E3 Wii U Games At Best Buy
Play the future with a handful of yet to be released Wii U titles.
This morning Nintendo’s President, Reggie Fils-Aime, revealed that demos of a few forthcoming Wii U games will be playable at participating Best Buy locations this week.
For two days they’ll be playable from 4-8PM local time on Wednesday, June 12, and 1-5PM local time on Saturday, June 15. Unfortunately, the list of locations is pretty few and far between, so you may have to do some driving, unless you’re lucky enough to live near one of the listed locations. Good luck!
The following games will be available:
Mario Kart 8
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

Super Smash Brothers: E3 2013 Trailer
After the long wait, we get two Smash Brothers.
Earlier this morning Nintendo during the last bit of their online “Nintendo Direct” shared both 3DS and Wii U of Super Smash Brothers.
Each one has its returning, and new characters, environments and art style. Where the Wii U goes “HD” the 3DS variant gets a similar “cell shaded” look like Street Fighter IV. Among the big announcements are, of course, that Megaman is joining the fight at last, touting several of the powers he’s aped from various bosses over the course of a dozen or so Megaman games. Also joining Smash Brothers is the Villager from Animal Crossing, who has the ability to steal other characters’ ranged attacks and turn them against them. Humorously on the list is the fitness trainer from Wii Fit, kicking the crap out of you with her amazing fitness moves.
Capcom said they’re due to release in 2014, with more new info to come. Can’t wait!

Wii U: Wii Party U Looks To Use Gamepad Creatively
The Wii U Will Eventually Get Its Party On
I have to admit to being a little shocked that Nintendo hasn’t delivered a Wii Party U game this far into the system’s lifecycle. Traditionally, these games tend to have a truckload of mini games, each of which shows off some clever idea for using the unique controller of the system it’s developed for, and as such can help players and other developers see some of the creative ideas Nintendo itself has dreamed up for using the controller effectively. Unfortunately, while the game was originally announced for this summer, it’s now been pushed back to some unknown future date October 2013. Hopefully that’s not a bad sign. Unfortunately, there’s no trailer available yet, but you can check out this lovely reference image, and click the link above to check out screenshots via Nintendo.
Wii U: Mario Kart 8 Looks Surprisingly Badass
Somehow, Nintendo Made Mario Kart Exciting Again!
When I first saw that Mario Kart 8 was the next game to be announced in Nintendo’s Direct conference this morning, I kind of groaned a little bit. Let me ‘splain. The Mario Kart games have always been excellent, well made arcade racers, but over the years it’s become a bit formulaic and a little too familiar. That’s not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself–after all, a familiar but excellent thing is still excellent, after all–it just lacks the excitement in general of something new. But with that acknowledged, I have to say that the trailer for Mario Kart 8 actually has me a bit excited. There’s a new “hover car” style of mechanic that allows your kart to race up walls and even upside down, and new powerups. Additionally, the visuals are very impressive, retaining the classic cartoon style, but upping the level of detail to an extreme level. On top of that, according to Iwata’s commentary following the trailer, the game will support the most robust online ever in a Mario Kart game, complete with deep Miiverse integration.
What I found a bit disappointing were only two things: first, no mention of the Wii U tablet screen’s usage in the game, and second, it’s not coming out until Spring 2014. Ah, well. Horizon and all that, I guess. Check out the trailer below. More details via Nintendo.
Leaked Watch Dogs E3 Trailer
It was bound to happen. The E3 leak? Watch Dogs.
Of all the games out there, the one about hacking and leaking info gets leaked before its big day.
Maybe Ubisoft meant for this to happen; maybe they got something grand beyond Watch Dogs to show at their presser. That and the poster on Vimeo goes by the same name as the protagonist in game, Aiden Pearce.
The Watch Dogs leaked trailer is truly a top notch one, prereadered mind you. For a quick moment, in the beginning, I thought it was live action.
More details will be posted this week, and maybe some game play, so stay tuned. We’ll be blogging lots on E3!
