Fallout Online: Finally and Truly Dead?

Fallout Online, AKA “project V13″: will it ever see the light of day?

On Monday, Bethesda announced the end of a three-year long legal battle with original Fallout developer, Interplay. According to reports, Bethesda paid Interplay $2 million in the settlement, under which Interplay surrendered any and all licensing rights to create Fallout Online. If rumors are true, they even agreed to give up the rights to publish their Fallout PC classics, including the original game, Fallout 2, and  Fallout Tactics:cry:

But the big question is, now that Interplay is out of the Fallout Online picture, will Bethesda develop and release a Fallout MMO of its own? Is Fallout Online dead?

Fallout New Vegas Patched…with more crap

Fallout-New-Vegas-2

Recently, Bethesda released a update patch for their RPG Fallout New Vegas. I think great, they finally got around to fixing the myriad of glitches and freezes that has been a nuisance since it’s release of  10/19/2010. So I download the patch in Xbox live and guess what – somehow, unbelievably, they’ve fucked it up even more! Now not only are the glitches still there, but all my DLC is missing, and I can’t continue my saved games that I already invested many hours playing to near completion. My head nearly exploded with what came next. Blood and outrage after the break!

BROKEN STEEL

By: Peter Blank

Bethesda’s third DLC Broken Steel, set for release 05/05/2009 is said to start where players left off at the end of the main quest in the Fallout 3. This is the DLC that many have been waiting for. This will allow you to continue past the end of the main Fallout 3 quest. Another bonus will be the experience cap will be raised from level 20 to level 30. This added with the weapons brought to you in the first two downloads; Operation Anchorage, and The Pitt, will complete this masterpiece first conceived by Interplay in the 1990′s.  The anticipation of this third and final add on is incredible. I can’t wait for the new weapons, and to fire up Liberty Prime to kick some enclave ass.

There are rumors of a forth DLC from Bethesda called Point Lookout, and some claim this will add multiplayer to Fallout 3, but I can assure you this is not true. Bethesda does not own the multiplayer rights for the Fallout series. Interplay, the original developer of the Fallout series with, Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Brotherhood of steel still retains ownership of the MMO rights to the Fallout franchise. The Interplay MMO is scheduled for release near the end of 2010. The rumors that Interplays announcement of Project V13 is this very much anticipated MMO.
