Konami unveils Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero’s Teaser Trailer

Konami held a special event at Pax Prime 2012, celebrating the 25 years of its beloved Metal Gear, with Hideo Kojima as host.   Among other things, there was a discussion of Metal Gear Solid.

Kojima spoke of the past, future, and what he’s presently working on for said future. He rambled away regarding many and all things related to the series from collector goodies, to hints of Metal Gear Revengence becoming its own series, to an official announcement with Columbia Pictures to produce a movie. But what we all wanted to know, was Snake returning? Yes, yes he is. Read on after the break for the full details!

A brief eleven minute teaser trailer, with in-game footage, played for the crowd to great cheers. From what looks like Snake infiltrating Guantanamo Bay to rescue Elian Gonzales a little boy from Scarface a “Snake-like” figure. Of course, this isn’t the “main” Snake character, Solid Snake–this is his forebearer, Naked Snake, otherwise known as Big Boss.

Kojima confirmed that Metal Gear Solid will be an open world like game, where you can go in and out with an on-call helicopter bump’n your favourite classical music, or any other tunes that you desire. There was no word on the release date, but it is a current-gen game, running on the new “Fox Engine”. He did mention it would be available on both the Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as have flexibility to upscale it for next-gen consoles.
