Fallout Online: Finally and Truly Dead?

Project_V13

Fallout Online, AKA “project V13″: will it ever see the light of day?

On Monday, Bethesda announced the end of a three-year long legal battle with original Fallout developer, Interplay. According to reports, Bethesda paid Interplay $2 million in the settlement, under which Interplay surrendered any and all licensing rights to create Fallout Online. If rumors are true, they even agreed to give up the rights to publish their Fallout PC classics, including the original game, Fallout 2, and  Fallout Tactics.

But the big question is, now that Interplay is out of the Fallout Online picture, will Bethesda develop and release a Fallout MMO of its own? Is Fallout Online dead?

Would a Fallout MMO even be enticing for fans? Tell us what you think!

Browser Based OGAME.ORG

Ogame

Over the past few months I have been trying out one of the myriad of online browser-based games, named Ogame. This game is produced by GameForge and is a real time strategy space game, where you colonize planets, mine resources, build defenses, attack neighbors and build alliances. This game has some pros and several BIG cons, but first the good news. The layout of the game is great, with easy, clearly marked buttons and panels, but as in so many other areas, it’s what’s on the inside that really counts. Click past the break for the down and dirty details!

PC Gaming Alliance where are they?

pcgaWith all these press conferences occurring between major game publishers, the PC Gaming Alliance has decided against the having one. Randy Stude, President of PCGA, stated to Bigdownload, that E3 is a trade show for retailers and that while console games and hardware are mostly sold in brick and mortar stores, the number of PC titles sold in stores is shrinking rapidly.

But has he forgotten that one of the reasons PC titles sold in store are shrinking is the fact many of these stores don’t carry PC games due to the non-existence of a used game market for these Games? I haven’t seen a GameStop carrying PC games (outside World of Warcraft) in some time. E3 is also a trade show where thousands of members of the press report–live blogging, video streaming, twittering, etc–what they see and hear to those who consume the media. Should the PC Gaming Alliance have a press conference? In short, yes. Microsoft, whose operating system runs most PC games, are also a member of the PC Gaming Alliance, yet had little to no mention to PC gaming during their press conference. Many PC gamers are left with unanswered questions on where PC gaming is going. These leave a question open for answers, so what is the PC Gaming Alliance doing for PC gamers to help resolve the consumer experience?

DRAGON AGE – ORIGINS

morrigan_wallpaper1_full_1280x10241Origins E3

By Peter Blank

Dragon Age: Origins was introduced at the 2009  E3 by Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw. This 1 player  D&D style game, is built on Bioware’s Eclipse game engine, and from what was shown at the E3 has an awesome story line and promises to be one of the best RPG’s ever released. The game play, storyline, and NPC interaction kicks ass, all decisions made, effect how the story goes and how the NPC characters interact with you as a player.

Dragon Age: Origins is a dark heroic fantasy set in a unique world. As the spiritual successor of BioWare’s popular Baldur’s Gate series of games, it uses a pause-and-play tactical      combat system. Play in over-the-shoulder mode, or the more tactical top-down view. Dragon Age: Origins features a stunning amount of cinematic dialog. Players will be able to acquire unique party members. These party members will have their own motivations for accompanying the player.

Dragon Age is set to ship 10/20/2009 and will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 and YES there will be a World/Tool set builder for the PC.
