Quake Live: Open Beta coming February 24th!
Id Software’s upcoming freeware online game Quake Live launches the next phase of its beta on February 24th. According to news from Id, all statistics from the previous closed beta are being wiped, so there’s a fresh slate out there for all you competitive types, and in 4 days you’ll be able to compete to become top dog…or banana…or whatever else you prefer to see on top.
For those who haven’t heard of Quake (where have you been living, under an MMO?), it’s a first person shooter that excels primarily at multiplayer fragfests. If you’re an FPS fan, this one’s likely to be a must play for you. It’s browser based, so almost anyone with a Windows based PC should be able to run it. According to the game’s wikipedia entry, Id is working closely with Apple to ensure Mac OSX support, but it’s unclear how soon that’ll be coming along.
So who’s in? We’ll be playing Quake Live, but will you? Tell us when you’ll be playing in the comments and we’ll be sure to come online and kick your ass. Or, get fragged repeatedly and tell our mommies we kicked your ass anyway.
